JERSEY VILLAGE, Texas — The Jersey Village City Council on March 16 moved to table consideration of an ordinance to adopt the 2024 International Property Maintenance Code after more than an hour of public comment and council discussion.
Residents pressed the council for more time and clearer materials before adopting what some characterized as a large, complex code. "Before the vote's taken, every resident deserve to know what and understand what is actually being enacted," said Michael Trishan, a Jersey Village resident who urged delay and cited Texas House Bill 2127 in arguing the city should not adopt language that might conflict with state law.
