Christopher Brown (DOC 577321) appeared March 19 after allegations he changed residence without notifying his parole officer and had relapsed on narcotics. Brown said he lost a job and housing, relapsed, then spent 90 days incarcerated and is now sober and has a job opportunity lined up if released.
Board members pressed him on prior violations and the stability of his support environment. Brown said his planned residence in Livingston Parish would be a sober environment and that a scaffolding job opportunity awaited him. The panel voted not to revoke parole; members set conditions to include a substance-abuse evaluation and treatment, monthly in-person reporting to the parole officer, weekly AA meetings and random drug screening. The board stressed that failure to comply could lead to revocation.
