Board adopts 2026–27 calendar, approves personal‑finance waiver and personnel actions

The board voted unanimously to adopt the 2026–27 school calendar as recommended by the superintendent and the calendar committee, which used staff and family surveys and reviewed neighboring districts’ schedules.
The board authorized district staff to pursue a one‑year waiver for the personal‑finance diploma requirement so the district can implement a standalone personal‑finance course in a later fall. Chad, the staff presenter, described the course as covering credit, banking, investing, taxes and related standards and asked the board to authorize the waiver process: “This class should be good for them,” Chad said. The board moved and approved the waiver by roll call.
Board members also approved a confidential list of retirements, resignations and contract renewals/nonrenewals for educators. One board member abstained from that vote; the motion otherwise passed. The chair then moved to accept two leave‑of‑absence requests for Kitty Dimas and Sean Peters; that motion passed unanimously.
These items were approved without further substantive amendments and will be implemented according to standard district procedures. The calendar adoption and personnel approvals were recorded in roll‑call votes in the meeting minutes.
