Caledonia board honors girls bowling team after Division 1 state title

The Caledonia Community Schools Board of Education recognized the girls bowling team on March 16 after the team swept Rockford 3-0 to win the Division 1 state championship.
A student who spoke at the meeting recounted the season’s setbacks and comeback, saying the team regained its confidence after injuries and a regional title win "by over 500 pins," and describing how the team pulled together to take the state title. The student added, "We swept Rockford 3 to 0 to win a state title." The board presented certificates to the team and coaches Prescott Holbrook and Brandon Luxford, and congratulated student honorees Addison Luxford, Riley (individual recognition), Casey Rastad and Abigail Douglas.
Superintendent (speaker 5) and board members praised the players’ teamwork and perseverance and noted additional recognitions: Riley received statewide recognition as a top junior, and the team was named academic All-State. Board members invited the students and coaches for photos and brief remarks; the board thanked them and encouraged continued success.
The recognition was presented near the start of the meeting and required no formal vote. The board then returned to routine business on the published agenda.
