The Milton Trails Advisory Committee on Jan. 22 voted to support staff-recommended edits to the Milton Trails blueprint map that reroute a previously straight connection between the Braeburn subdivision and State Route 372.
Staff described a redesign that avoids an active private subdivision in the middle of the original segment and wraps the connection around commercial areas and townhomes; staff said they had coordinated with the Braeburn residential HOA and planned to seek agreement from the Braeburn Office Village Association before bringing the item to mayor and council.
A committee member moved to accept the purple March updates as staff recommendations; another member seconded. The motion passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Staff said the redesign aims to provide safer pedestrian routes and accommodate popular golf-cart travel near schools during arrival and dismissal times, proposing asphalt or concrete for heavily used segments and advising against gravel for the main connection.
Staff will continue outreach to the office-village association and, if feedback is positive, present the blueprint edits as a recommendation to mayor and council for first reading and eventual vote.
The committee did not finalize construction details or exact materials; those would be decided later during project design and permitting.
