Education committee recommends 2026–27 calendar and special education plan; NEF readies Harlem Wizards fundraiser

The Neshaminy School District’s Educational Development Committee told the board it has recommended the 2026–27 district calendar for board approval and has placed the district special education plan on the agenda for public review.

Committee member Rodriguez reported that the March 3 committee meeting also covered an elementary science pilot, a middle-school schedule update and a proposed memorandum of understanding related to FIRST Robotics; the committee recommended referring the MOU for legal review and considering it for a future board agenda. Rodriguez thanked Dr. King for presenting the special education plan material required under Pennsylvania regulations, which require districts to submit special education plans every three years.

Separately, the Neshaminy Education Foundation (NEF) reported plans for a Harlem Wizards fundraising game at Neshaminy High School’s Gym 3 on Saturday, with doors at 6 p.m. and a 7 p.m. start time; tickets were listed on the district website in the meeting remarks. The NEF said five $1,000 scholarships are available to graduating seniors, with an application deadline of April 6 and an NEF meeting scheduled for April 13 at the district office.

The committee’s recommendation sends the calendar and the special education plan to the full board for action; the transcript shows the items were placed on the board agenda for review and public comment, with legal review requested for certain MOUs before formal approval.
