Tyler receives clean audit for fiscal year 2025; council accepts annual comprehensive financial report

The Tyler City Council accepted the city's annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025, after auditors from GMP Assurance presented an unmodified (clean) opinion and no material weaknesses in internal control.
Kevin Cashin of GMP Assurance told council the audit yielded a clean opinion on both the city's financial statements and single-audit testing of federal expenditures, including major programs such as transit operations and ARPA-funded activities. Cashin highlighted the city's total net position of about $681 million and an increase in net position for the year of roughly $43.1 million; he also noted restricted net position of about $77 million and an unrestricted balance that remained close to zero.
Cashin thanked the city finance department and the Committee of Finance for their cooperation during the audit. After brief questions from council, Curtis moved and Haney seconded acceptance of the report; the council approved the recommendation by voice vote.
