Summary
Township officials reported an eroding structure on Northwest 1021 Road and Road & Bridge supervisor Dennis Bowers recommended replacing a structure on Northwest 1201 Road in Honey Creek Township because it is undermining a supporting rock wall; Commissioner Larson agreed to inspect the site.
A township representative turned in a cart contract and flagged a problematic structure on Northwest 1021 Road; the commission agreed to review the site.
Steven Smith of Hemmy Creek Township submitted his township’s cart contract and reported an issue he described as a bridge on Northwest 1021 Road that county staff had identified as a culvert. The township prefers a repair rather than full replacement because concrete in parts of the structure remains sound, but officials noted the problem is worsening and "eating away at the road."
Road & Bridge branch supervisor Dennis Bowers separately described the structure on Northwest 1201 Road in Honey Creek Township, telling commissioners the feature is undermining the rock wall on which it sits and arguing it should be replaced rather than patched. "It is undermining the rock wall that it is built on," Bowers said.
Commissioner Mark Larson agreed to inspect the bridge/culvert on Northwest 1021 Road at 10:07 a.m. staff and commissioners indicated follow-up would occur after the inspection to determine scope and whether full replacement is required. No immediate contract or funding commitment for replacement was recorded in the minutes.
The record reflects staff recommendation for replacement of at least one structure and a commission-directed site visit to gather further information and cost estimates.
