Two residents outline qualifications for Clayton City Council during public comment

Two residents used the public-comment period at the Sept. 17 Clayton City Council meeting to outline their qualifications to serve on the council.
Maria Shulman identified herself as a longtime Clayton resident, a nurse, chair of the Planning Commission and a member of the Clayton Community Library Foundation; she said she has participated in many city and local events. Richard Enea described himself as a longtime resident and retired Clayton police officer, a former chair of the Planning Commission and a CBCA member.
In addition to those public comments, Councilmember Holly Tillman and Jim Diaz each took time during the meeting to speak about their qualifications for re-election and the accomplishments of their current terms. At one point Vice Mayor Trupiano temporarily assumed the chair during Mayor Diaz’s brief absence.
These remarks were delivered during the public comment and council remarks portions of the meeting; no formal election or appointment action took place at the Sept. 17 session.
