Addison Trail and Willowbrook principals report student achievements, Relay for Life fundraising and upcoming events

At the March 9 meeting a school representative speaking on behalf of the principals at Addison Trail and Willowbrook summarized recent student activities and upcoming events. The representative said Addison Trail hosted the Illinois Regional Orchestra Consortium (IROC) and recognized music activities, and noted Addison Trail students participated in the district Relay for Life, which involved more than 200 students and raised nearly $30,000.
The representative listed upcoming events including a Citizens Advisory Council meeting focusing on safety and security, PE Week events culminating in a Superstars Assembly on March 20, an author visit by Shelby Van Pelt, and an inaugural AT Academic Fest showcasing more than 100 student presentations. The representative also highlighted competitive successes: students qualified for BPA nationals and DECA placements; DECA advisor Laura Lopez was recognized as the Illinois DECA Marketing Educator of the Year.
Willowbrook updates included student engagement during Brook Olympics Week and upcoming College of DuPage activities: on March 11 COD will be available in the field house to present programs and assist with applications; COD will also administer math placement testing for students planning to attend COD in the fall. The counseling department will host parent nights and a college and career fair in late March.
The board acknowledged the reports and thanked volunteers and staff for supporting events such as a foundation pickleball tournament.
