Adelanto council rearranges delegate seats on regional boards; Mojave Air Quality nomination passes amid one dissent

Adelanto — On Feb. 11 the Adelanto City Council approved a slate of appointments and substitutions to regional boards and committees, including SBCTA, SCAG and the continuum of care, and recorded votes on several nominations.

In one notable vote, Councilwoman Uptegrove moved to nominate Angela Mesa as delegate to the Mojave Air Quality Management District governing board, with Councilmember Mesa seconding the motion; the council passed the nomination on roll call. Clerk Brenda recorded Councilmember Evans as voting no and the others voting yes.

"I've been on that board for quite some time," Councilmember Evans said during discussion, urging continuity and emphasizing the value of long‑term relationships. Councilmembers who supported the change cited the need to ensure attendance and to broaden experience across members.

Other appointments finalized at the meeting included new delegate/alternate assignments for the regional steering committee, continuum of care, the League of California Cities Desert Mountain Division, and the SCAG general assembly; the mayor and mayor pro tem remain delegates on certain regional panels by tradition.

The council also asked staff to confirm whether certain local advisory boards (for example, the Adelanto Community Resource Center) remain active and to remove inactive boards from annual appointment lists.

The changes will be reflected in the city’s official committee roster; staff will follow up with calendar and contact updates for the newly assigned delegates and alternates.
