Adelanto council removes clerk bond, names representative to regional housing trust

The Adelanto City Council on March 25 approved two administrative items: an ordinance removing the municipal-code bond requirement for the city clerk, and an appointment to the newly formed San Bernardino Regional Housing Trust board.
City Attorney Todd explained the ordinance would remove a municipal-code requirement that had historically required a bond (insurance) to cover city-clerk actions; Todd said the annual premium has been about $1,200–$1,500. Council members agreed the bond had never been used to make a claim and that eliminating the requirement would save an annual administrative expense. The council moved, seconded and approved the ordinance.
On regional housing, council members discussed whom to appoint to the San Bernardino Regional Housing Trust board after the ad hoc committee completed its work. Mayor Pro Tem Ramos, who had served on the SBCTA ad hoc committee that helped shape the trust, nominated himself to continue as the city’s board member. Mayor Reyes moved to appoint Ramos as the delegate with a council-designated alternate; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Council members said the appointee would report back to the full council on trust activities and that any board recommendations affecting Adelanto would return to council for final action.
Both items were routine in nature, and council members noted that governance, reporting and conflict-of‑interest checks would apply to any board participation or subsequent project decisions.
