Morton Grove swears in four new public safety employees

At its March 10 meeting the Morton Grove board swore in three new police officers and one firefighter; the board, commission chair and family members participated in the ceremony and officials highlighted the new hires' backgrounds.
Mike Simpkins, chair of the Board of Police and Fire Commission, introduced four new Morton Grove public safety employees and led them in the oath of office at the village board meeting.
Simpkins read short biographies for each hire. He introduced Sanai Jeckow, noting that Jeckow joined the Morton Grove Police Department in 2025 after graduating from the Illinois State Police Academy and has worked on community engagement. Connor Solms was presented as a recruit with wildland firefighting experience, service in the U.S. Forest Service and the Illinois Air National Guard, and law-enforcement experience beginning in 2022. Kyla Donegan was described as a 2023 hire with prior work as an investigator on an Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The board also welcomed Eugene, a recently hired firefighter and certified paramedic who completed the Romeoville Fire Academy.
Each new employee recited the oath of office and received congratulations from the mayor and trustees. The board emphasized public-service values and welcomed the new officers and firefighter to Morton Grove's public-safety teams.
No formal votes or budgetary actions accompanied the swearing-in beyond the recognition and the administrative process for onboarding new hires.
