Alameda announces Cultural Arts Grant open call; orientation Feb. 11, applications due March 19

"We have applications open now through March 19," Jackie Kalii'a, development manager in Alameda’s economic development division, told briefing participants. Kalii'a said the Cultural Arts and Arts Programming Grant seeks proposals from nonprofits, public entities and fiscally sponsored artist organizations for performances, festivals, lectures, film/video, and similar programming.
Kalii'a described the program as content-focused (in contrast to the special events permit grant, which is limited to permitting-related costs) and noted an orientation for applicants on Feb. 11 and a review of applications at the Public Art Commission meeting on April 27. She also recommended attending a City-hosted "grant writing 101" webinar and said recordings of all webinars will be posted to the City’s YouTube page for later viewing.
Kalii'a offered to share the RFP and contact information for prospective applicants and encouraged groups to reach out with questions about eligibility or the application process.
