Adelanto Community Resource Center seeks donations as demand rises

Anita, the newly appointed administrator of the Adelanto Community Resource Center (ACRC), addressed the Adelanto City Council on Nov. 12 to describe the center’s food and toy programs and to request community support ahead of the holidays.

"I am the new administrator for ACRC," Anita said. She told the council the center serves all 15 schools in the district, gives toys to families from ages 0–18 and provides weekly food service (Thursdays, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.). Anita said August brought 30 new clients and the first week of November recorded 11 new clients; she asked for help securing at least 40 turkeys for Thanksgiving and said the center depends on donations of food, clothing and hygiene supplies.

Council members and residents responded with offers of assistance. One council member immediately offered 10 turkeys, and staff and other councilmembers recommended the ACRC connect with the High Desert food collaborative and local partners to stabilize supply. Several speakers urged the ACRC to increase social-media outreach so residents know the center’s hours and services.

Why it matters: The ACRC said demand has risen and that the center remains one of the few weekly food-access points in Adelanto; the council encouraged partnerships and practical steps (collaborative contacts, post-RFP distribution dates) to support the center’s operations through the holidays.

Anita invited council members to visit the center and said the organization will continue the annual 29-year toy-and-food drive; staff and council said they will follow up on donation logistics.
