Duncanville ISD board adopts 2026–27 academic calendar after stakeholder survey

The Duncanville Independent School District board voted unanimously to adopt Calendar A for the 2026–27 school year following a presentation from Dr. Nicks on calendar‑committee work and stakeholder feedback.
Dr. Nicks said the calendar committee included educators, campus administrators, central office staff, parents and students; the survey received 1,117 responses with 81% favoring Calendar A. He explained all draft options met state requirements for instructional minutes and teacher contract days, and that the adopted calendar includes two designated bad‑weather makeup days per policy.
Board members who spoke praised the committee work and emphasized the importance of supporting teachers and attendance. With that vote the district finalized teachers’ and students’ first reporting and instructional dates for 2026–27.
