The City of Burlingame Planning Commission on Aug. 25 approved a master sign program application allowing a new non‑illuminated aluminum wall sign on the side of an existing medical office building at 1720 El Camino Real, voting 4-0 to adopt the staff resolution.
Staff described the proposal as a non‑illuminated aluminum-letter wall sign, 1 to 1.5 inches deep, stud‑mounted to the building facade on the El Camino Real elevation; an existing wall sign at the El Camino frontage would remain and an existing window sign is exempt. Staff told commissioners the proposed sign complies with measurable criteria in the staff report and is compatible in size and design with the building facade.
"Pretty simple, straightforward project," said Dustin Pasalapi, who identified himself as representing the applicant. "Just asking for the non‑illuminated wall sign as you see in the drawings."
There were no public comments. A commissioner moved to approve the project and the resolution; another commissioner seconded and the commission approved the motion by roll call, 4-0. The chair reminded listeners that planning commission actions are appealable to the City Council within 10 days and that appeals must be in writing with a $924 fee.
If not appealed by 5 p.m. on the tenth day, the commission's decision will become final and the Planning Department will proceed with permit issuance.
