Commissioners reported a new McDonald’s has opened and that a car wash at the same commercial area is expected to open within two to three weeks, prompting discussion of business practices and traffic safety.
At the meeting a commissioner suggested the car wash operator may offer a monthly membership and expressed a preference for supporting local businesses. Another commissioner raised concerns about the entrance from southbound Highway 395 at Mojave, saying the approach is tight and could create conflicts for vehicles turning into the shopping center. Chair Joe Wagner responded, "I'll take a look at it, move it forward if we need to put some delineers there that are standing up," and said staff would follow up to determine whether pavement markings or bollards are needed.
Commissioners also discussed adding photos of commissioners to the city website and arranging embroidered polo shirts for the commission. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed by voice vote.
No formal actions, permits or fees for the new car wash were recorded in the meeting minutes; the discussion was informational and directed staff to follow up on safety measures and outreach to the operator.
