Adelanto highlights Safe Streets plan, Seneca Road repaving and donated senior bus

City Manager Todd used the Aug. 27 meeting to update the council on several infrastructure and mobility initiatives aimed at improving safety and access in Adelanto.
Todd said the city hosted the first of two Safe Streets for All workshops and is encouraging residents to complete an online survey that will help shape the action plan and improve the city’s eligibility for state and federal road-safety grants. "We ask our residents to get involved and provide your comments," he said, describing the goal of better lighting, wider pathways and safer intersections along Highway 395 to link the north and south ends of the city.
Staff also presented a map showing the planned Seneca Road pavement rehabilitation from Highway 395 to Astor/Aster and said design work has started with an anticipated completion before the end of the year. Todd added that the city has received a donated Victor Valley Transit Authority bus that will be assigned to senior transportation and programming.
The announcements drew requests that staff keep residents informed about anticipated road closures and project timelines; councilmembers also asked staff to pursue inland-port and regional freight opportunities highlighted during a recent Long Beach port visit.
Staff said the Safe Streets program will have a second workshop in the fall and reiterated the city’s outreach plan for the survey and project updates.
