The city of Adelanto has launched a 30‑day request for proposals to identify a firm to purchase and install home water filtration systems for residents, City Manager (staff member) said during the Jan. 28 City Council meeting.
The manager told the council the initiative responds to resident concerns about water quality and said the plan contemplates serving approximately 500 households. He said state representatives have indicated willingness to help cover costs for the filtration units and their installation, and that staff will present eligibility guidelines and full program details after a contractor is selected.
The manager emphasized that the city’s water system currently meets minimum state standards but that elected officials want to “exceed state standards” and give residents additional assurance. He said the assemblymember directed staff to compile a rooftop count and treat apartment residents as eligible, not only single‑family homes.
Council members praised the outreach efforts that led to the RFP and said they hope the program will quickly move from planning to installation. No council vote was required for the RFP announcement; the manager said staff will return with a recommendation after proposals are evaluated.
