Measure H oversight committee hears report on $85,157 Axon camera payment and fire-response volumes

The chief told the committee there are two large pending expenditures: "This is the first year of the 5 year contract. It's the $85,157.19. We're still pending the invoice waiting on the invoice for that." The chief also reported a $2,500 line for replacement patrol rifles that has not been spent because the budget was frozen.
A representative of the contracted fire-protection service said the contract consumes a significant portion of Measure H funds and gave operational figures for the past year: "we responded over 6,006 calls for service, 4,500, which were EMS related, and 300 over 300 vehicle accidents, 400 fires, as well as over 50 working structure fires." The representative framed these statistics as evidence that Measure H funds support essential fire and emergency responsiveness.
No committee action was taken on the expenditures during the meeting; the chief said the Axon contract invoice is pending and the patrol rifles purchase has been deferred due to the frozen budget. The committee moved on after the reports and adjourned.
Next steps: Staff will monitor invoicing for the Axon contract and any budget changes that would permit the rifle replacement purchase; no formal direction or vote on those expenditures was recorded during the meeting.
