La Mesa council approves appointments and clears consent calendar

The La Mesa City Council approved several appointments and cleared the consent calendar during its Feb. 10 meeting.
The mayor moved to appoint four nominees to the police oversight board (Jeffrey McElwain, Beth Morgante, Clifton Eubank and Todd McCully) and a nominee related to homelessness (Erin Landau). The motion carried with all council members voting yes.
Interviews for a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission had produced three applicants (Jonathan Austin, Sherry Meek and Jason Mullen); Mayor Rapistakis and three council members nominated Jonathan Austin and the council approved his appointment by majority vote.
The council also considered the consent calendar. The mayor moved to approve items 10.1 through 10.6 and 10.8 through 10.11; Council member Dillard pulled item 10.7 for discussion. After a brief presentation and exchange on homelessness program metrics (item 10.7), the council approved the pulled item as well. Meeting minutes show motion(s) carried with unanimous votes where indicated.
