Rohnert Park planning commission approves Castle Danger Tattoo Studio conditional use permit

The Rohnert Park Planning Commission on May 22, 2025 approved a conditional use permit for Castle Danger Tattoo Studio, a proposed tattoo shop at 6555 Hunter Drive, Suite 4.

Staff planner Christina told the commission the proposal would occupy an existing 780‑square‑foot suite in a regional commercial center and would require no exterior changes. Staff recommended approval under Resolution 2025‑0005, conditioned on compliance with Sonoma County health requirements and licenses, building and fire inspections, and ensuring proper ADA access. Staff said the existing shopping center provides 33 shared parking spaces, which staff judged adequate for the use. Notices were mailed to property owners and occupants within a 300‑foot radius; staff reported 215 notices were mailed and that no written comments had been received.

Commissioner Epstein moved to adopt the resolution; the motion passed on a roll‑call vote, 4–0, with one commissioner excused. The commission’s action is subject to a 10‑day appeal period before it becomes final, Christina said.

Applicant Laura Lolly, who identified herself as the shop owner, told commissioners she previously worked at the city’s other tattoo studio for four years and that the new business will offer tattoos only ("I have no plans for piercings"), starting with her as the primary practitioner and an eventual capacity for up to three artists. "I'm usually booked out at least a month," Lolly said, describing operations as appointment‑based while allowing walk‑ins to ask questions in a separate front area.

The commission’s approval allows the applicant to proceed with required county health permits and building inspections before occupying the suite. The city noted the 10‑day appeal window; if no appeal is filed, the resolution will take effect after that period.
