Summary
St. Lucie Public Schools declared March 2026 Arts in Our Schools Month and recognized All-State student musicians, district arts educators and MLK parade winners; the proclamation passed on the superintendent's recommendation with a unanimous vote.
Lydia Martin, the district communications chief, introduced a proclamation recognizing March as Arts in Our Schools Month. Kevin Perry, assistant to the superintendent, described the district’s commitment: “Creativity isn't a luxury. It's a life skill,” and highlighted local arts programs and student achievements.
The board adopted the proclamation after Superintendent Dr. Prince recommended it. The meeting record lists All-State student honorees and Music Performance Assessment (MPA) results: several high school bands and choirs earned superior and excellent ratings, and numerous students and schools were named for honors. The board also recognized MLK parade winners across elementary, middle and high school divisions, naming Fort Pierce Central High School the overall winner.
Officials emphasized the district's long-standing arts programs and their role in student engagement, social-emotional growth and college-career pathways. The board approved the proclamation by unanimous vote and applauded students, teachers and community volunteers who support arts education.
