Montclair welcomes two lateral officers; council approves consent calendar 5-0

Chief Reed introduced Officer Baltazar Gallardo, who brings prior patrol and field-training experience from the city of Brawley after attending the Riverside County police academy, and Officer Joshua Foster, who previously served with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and Riverside Police Department before joining Montclair.
After presentations and public comment, the council took up the consent calendar. Council member Lopez moved to approve the consent calendar "as presented," a motion the council approved by a 5-0 vote.
In communications and announcements, the council noted two vacancies on the Planning Commission for four-year terms (July 2025–June 2029) with applications due by Wednesday, May 14 at 5:00 p.m. City staff also said a planned dedication of the Montclair post office in honor of Mayor Paul Eaton is being rescheduled and tentatively targeted for August, pending the congresswoman’s schedule.
The meeting adjourned to closed session on a single item of potential litigation after a moment of remembrance for a 17-year-old Montclair resident, Enidalia Soledad Ramirez.
