Councilors asked about the requirement for businesses to recycle and options for smaller restaurants. The Republic Services representative said state law requires recycling (as applied to restaurants), but businesses without capacity can use single-stream residential cans as an option. A council member asked whether residents could visit the processing center and the company confirmed tours can be organized.
The company also said it is working on a feasibility study, with city staff, to determine whether an organics recycling program is practical for Needles.
