In the meeting’s final reports, the Community Development Director told the commission that through June the department has issued permits for 152 housing units in 2025, a pace that would exceed last year’s total if sustained. The director cited active permit activity in Rancho Descanso, Skybourne Village 3, Eagle Point and infill lots across the city.
The director also announced a ribbon-cutting and open house beginning at 8:30 a.m. the next day for the Desert Community Animal Center at 700 Palm Drive. The center will be operated by Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies and offer services including wellness checks, vaccinations, spay/neuter and more. Commissioners were reminded there is limited parking and encouraged to arrive early.
