Adelanto city manager outlines CarMax service center, KC Petroleum project and Seneca Road rehabilitation

Flores said a fully entitled CarMax service center on a 50‑acre site at Rancho Road and Emerald Road will include more than 150,000 square feet for vehicle reconditioning and service, a 7,000 square‑foot enclosed auction building, fueling, a private car wash and vehicle staging; groundbreaking is anticipated in 2026. He also reported that KC Petroleum has submitted plans for a ~5,000 square‑foot gas station and commercial development at Adelanto Road and Air Expressway that would include a convenience store, quick‑service restaurant and six EV chargers.
On infrastructure, Flores said the Seneca Road Rehabilitation design phase is nearing completion and expected to be finalized by mid‑November; staff will issue an RFP for construction after design is complete.
Council members praised staff for securing projects and said they expect these developments to increase local jobs and expand the city’s commercial tax base. No formal approvals were requested at this meeting; Flores framed the remarks as progress updates.
