Mayor Pro Tem Ramos moved to fund $8,000 to cover roughly half of the Adelanto students’ camp costs. The motion included conditions requested by council: legal staff will prepare documentation that requires funds be paid directly to the camp and that the camp provide a list of Adelanto students who benefit; the city will also coordinate a public photo‑op at the school. The motion passed by roll call; council recorded unanimous support among members present.
Council members emphasized they did not intend to supplant district obligations but said they would act to prevent students from missing an educational experience. Several council members said the city should concurrently pursue formal dialogue with the school district to clarify fund management and avoid future shortfalls.
