Library staffing, high-school updates and fall events highlighted at San Dimas meeting

Council heard community updates: the San Dimas Library named Amy Liu as temporary manager, San Dimas High School students reported facility and program updates, and Parks & Recreation previewed fall programs and events including swim lessons, the final Music in the Park and a Sept. 27 5K.
At the Aug. 12 San Dimas City Council meeting, staff and community members provided several service and program updates.
Nancy Munoz, teen and adult librarian, said the library's manager recently retired and that Dina Malakoff (from Charter Oak) had been filling in; Munoz introduced Amy Liu as the temporary library manager until the position is filled permanently. The council congratulated the library team.
Students from San Dimas High School told council about summer facilities work, theater and band preparations, athletic scrimmages and school-registration numbers. Jocelyn River reported about 1,250 students completed registration over two days, and the school recorded a 76% AP pass rate last year.
Parks and Recreation Director Scott Wasserman outlined upcoming offerings: fall swim lessons (registration opens Aug. 22), the final Music in the Park concert (7–9 p.m. at Civic Center Park), Cars and Coffee on Aug. 16, and the annual family 5K and fun run on Sept. 27. Wasserman described combining the city birthday with Music in the Park as a successful experiment and said staff would provide attendance data at council's request.
Council and staff also recognized the success of National Night Out and thanked public-safety partners for their participation.
