The Weed City Council unanimously accepted four property grant deeds and approved change orders for City Hall remediation during the meeting.
On a motion to adopt Resolution 07‑2026, staff explained the deeds had been signed by the grantor and that passage would make the city the title holder of record. City staff (speaker S10) told the council that "with the passage of this resolution, the city would be able to formally become title holders of record for these properties, and the city will then be able to use these properties for whatever beneficial use the city sees fit." Council members asked staff to obtain an estimate of any insurance‑liability increase for the newly acquired parcels; staff agreed to follow up.
Council then considered Resolution 08‑2026, which approves change orders from Viking Restoration related to mold and water remediation and roof work at City Hall. Staff advised the packet included updated invoices and that remediation and roof work had raised the project total; a contractor schedule was provided (painter, electrician and janitorial work) and staff said returning employees would be invited back only after final testing was presented to the council.
During discussion staff reported recent outside funding: an award of $220,000 for the roofing project was noted and another sum described in the meeting as $1,900,000 was reported as newly available for Lincoln Heights improvements, with final designation still pending. Staff described the $220,000 as covering a portion of roofing costs and said additional funding sources were under consideration.
Council moved to adopt the change‑order resolution; the motion carried by recorded voice vote. Council also requested that the environmental/air‑quality/testing contractor present final results to council before staff and employees are invited back into City Hall.
After finishing staff reports the council moved to a closed session.
