AC Transit, Alameda trim ILC meetings to three per year and weigh remote participation

Robert Del Rosario, AC Transit's director of service development and planning, told the interagency liaison committee on Feb. 12 that the transit agency's board approved a set of parameters to streamline city ILC meetings.
Under the approved approach, the Alameda ILC will remain a standalone meeting rather than a joint session with Oakland or Piedmont, the frequency will be reduced from four times a year to three, and meetings would be limited to about 90 minutes. Del Rosario said the city-specific structure was a direct response to committee and staff feedback and said most other charter parameters remain unchanged.
Del Rosario said AC Transit is "still exploring" a remote-participation option to ease travel burdens for staff and committee members. He emphasized that Alameda's proximity to AC Transit headquarters means in-person meetings are likely to remain the norm but that remote attendance options could be provided where appropriate.
The committee did not take a formal action; Del Rosario said staff will work through implementation details with city personnel and will inform the committee and city staff of any changes to scheduling or meeting format. No timeline was given for a final decision on remote participation.
The change reflects AC Transit's attempt to standardize meeting practices after the board approved the parameters last October, Del Rosario said, and staff thanked committee members for advocating to keep Alameda meetings independent of other jurisdictional ILCs.
Next steps: staff will coordinate logistics and report back to the ILC when implementation details, including any pilot for remote access, are settled.
