Newport planning commission elects Ron Rall chair and Neil Connor vice chair

The Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Newport elected its leadership for the coming term at the start of the March 24 meeting. Ron Rall was nominated and accepted the chairmanship; Neil Connor was nominated and elected vice chair.
The elections were conducted by nomination and voice vote during roll call at the meeting start. The newly elected chair then presided over a public hearing for a concept development plan by PLK Communities for 910 Lowell Street.
The vote for leadership was uncontested during the session recorded on March 24. The commission moved on to substantive agenda items after the leadership appointments and later approved the PLK concept development plan with conditions.
