He said some festival-related costs were new and not initially communicated to the district.
Directors questioned how the safety-station reduction would affect community expectations; board members said they did not want to pay for empty staffing but recognized the need to avoid funding gaps at events. One director urged staff to address UCPD staffing concerns in the program review presentation.
The board moved and approved the budget adjustment by voice vote, with members noting they will monitor UCPD staffing and the safety-station program next fiscal year.
