Police and fire present quarterly statistics; police report mixed crime trends and improved response times

Police and fire department leaders gave quarterly updates to the Wildomar City Council on public-safety activity for October through December 2025.
Lieutenant Reese presented the police report: calls for service were slightly lower in October and November compared with the same months in 2024 but rose again in December. Felony arrests were slightly higher year-over-year for the three-month window, while misdemeanor arrests trended down in December. Part I violent-crime categories showed mixed movement: aggravated assault and robbery were down over portions of the period, rape incidents were lower across the three months, but homicides were up (one additional homicide in November). Property crimes showed increases in some categories (burglaries up substantially in one month) and vehicle theft up by two incidents across the period.
Reese also reviewed response-time targets: priority‑1 calls (immediate threats) remain a top priority with staff aiming for under 10‑minute response; Priority‑3 averages improved from roughly 49 minutes in the previous report to about 38 minutes in this quarter. Traffic-collision counts were reported (Oct 28, Nov 26, Dec 30) and citation totals were provided (Oct 177, Nov 123, Dec 228).
Battalion Chief Mike Basic presented the fire-department quarterly review: the city ran approximately 990 calls for service in the quarter, including 762 medical responses, six structure fires, 71 traffic collisions and one vegetation fire. Station 61 responded to the majority of calls (about 685); mutual-aid activity with neighboring agencies and fire-marshal statistics (115 plan reviews with a 10‑day average turnaround and roughly 207 inspections) were also summarized. Basic highlighted community outreach (Toys for Tots), trainings and a plane-crash response in the period.
Council members had few questions for either department and commended staff on the reports.
