The Desert Hot Springs City Council on Oct. 7 continued Annexation No. 50 (the Amazon property) to the Oct. 21 meeting because the corporate owner’s signed ballot had not been received. Staff explained ballots must be signed by the corporate office for property-owner actions; the consultant said staff has been working with the developer to secure the required signature.
Separately, the council approved Annexation No. 51 (the Maverick property, approximately 3.9 acres) into Community Facilities District 2010‑1 to levy a special tax for landscaping and lighting maintenance. The city clerk reported the property owner voted in favor during the canvass, and council adopted the resolution declaring the election results by unanimous vote.
Council also approved creation of Special Tax Area 57 (Maverick property) to add the parcel to the Desert Hot Springs public safety tax area; Special Tax Area 56 (Amazon property) was continued to Oct. 21 with the annexation item. Council votes on the Maverick items were unanimous.
