Project manager Brad Calzo asked whether the commission wanted design focus from People’s Bridge to Ocean Beach Boulevard or a shorter segment; multiple commissioners suggested starting at Bicentennial east to Ocean Beach Boulevard to increase chances of grant approval and to ensure manageable design scope. Commissioners also encouraged exploring county and state match funding and requested design options so staff could apply for a grant whose portal closes June 30.
Staff will return with a proposal and, if feasible, a firm to begin design work quickly to meet grant timing.
