Fire Chief Justin Grimes said centralized dispatch offers operational benefits for fire and EMS through more consistent emergency medical dispatch protocols and clearer unit assignment. Commissioners described the move as cost‑effective and protective of employees’ jobs.
The commission approved the interlocal agreements by voice vote. Staff said the agreements are intended to position the city ahead of likely state action and to secure operational efficiencies and cost savings.
