San Carlos — The City Council on Jan. 12 adopted a resolution extending a 5% temporary assignment pay increase for Interim City Manager Nell Blackburn for the duration of the interim appointment.
City staff explained that the management salary resolution permits a 5% temporary increase for short assignments (30 days) but did not contemplate a longer interim appointment. The adopted resolution extends the 5% increase to match the full interim term; staff cited a monthly salary figure of $28,851.53 under the arrangement.
The council moved and approved the resolution by voice/roll call (no public comment on the item). The extension applies only for the period of the interim assignment; when the interim assignment ends, the temporary pay increase will end as well.
Staff said there are no other changes to Blackburn’s compensation package and that the resolution will not otherwise affect her current employment status with the city.
