"Regardless of whether this occupancy is facilitated by a hosting platform or by an individual, we’ll be able to capture those TOTs," the city manager said in explaining how the ordinance strengthens tax administration. Staff cited state statute and recent changes (transcript reference: "SB 346") as the legal basis for tightening administrative authority.
The council took a first‑reading vote to introduce the ordinance; staff said the amendment will allow administrative enforcement where appropriate and that further action will follow required noticing procedures.
