LA County names new San Dimas library manager; $800,000 ADA restroom grant announced

Crystal Chumney, regional administrator for LA County Library, told the council that Alex Rubio has been appointed as the permanent community library manager for the San Dimas Library. Chumney said Rubio has worked with LA County Library for 19 years and served most recently as a children’s librarian.
Chumney also announced that LA County Library is investing an $800,000 grant to remodel the San Dimas Library public and staff restrooms to meet ADA accessibility standards. The project is pending County Board of Supervisors approval in mid‑November; the library will explore temporary service options during any closure and provide updates to the community.
Alex Rubio spoke briefly about forthcoming children’s programs, including an earthquake‑science program for ages 5–12 and Rudy’s Radical Science Show on Nov. 12. No registration was required for the announced programs.
What happens next: County Board approval is required before the restroom project commences; the library will post updates on operations and temporary service plans if the facility closes for construction.
