The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council voted Jan. 20 to adopt its 2026 legislative platform, focusing advocacy and grant-seeking on housing and local land use, public safety and emergency preparedness, community services, environmental quality and government transparency.
Staff said the draft builds on prior platforms and identifies priority projects for federal and state advocacy, including Portuguese Bend slide remediation, reconstruction of Palos Verdes Drive South and completion of the civic center master plan with an emergency zone targeted for 2028. The platform calls for opposing legislation that imposes unfunded infrastructure mandates and supporting affordable-housing policies that preserve local control.
Council amended the housing section to group supporting and opposing measures together for clarity and directed staff to distribute the adopted platform to identified partners. The motion to adopt passed on a roll-call vote.
