The San Bruno City Council discussed forming an ad hoc subcommittee on April 22 to investigate partnership opportunities with the San Bruno Park School District.
Council members said the subcommittee should focus on a small number of well‑defined topics and avoid becoming a recurring body. The suggested format: brief, issue‑driven meetings (two to three sessions), a set agenda developed collaboratively by the city manager and the school superintendent, and limited membership to the mayor, the vice mayor and two council liaisons.
One council member suggested an online collaborative document ("We can use online software like Google Docs") to gather ideas and keep the committee efficient; that approach was offered as a way to limit off‑topic discussion and prepare staff for focused meetings.
Council also noted past mixed experiences with quarterly school‑city briefings and recommended staff preparation and narrowly circumscribed meeting agendas to make the ad hoc panel productive. The council agreed that the superintendent and city manager should work up possible agenda items and that the mayor and vice mayor serve on the ad hoc subcommittee, with the group returning to the full council with any recommended actions or agreements.
The motion to form and staff the ad hoc committee carried by consensus and staff were directed to coordinate with school district leadership on meeting logistics.
