The City of Pasadena has signed the California Equal Pay Pledge, the city’s HR director announced during the council meeting. Tiffany Jacobs Quinn told the council the pledge commits the city to an annual internal gender pay analysis and to review hiring and promotion practices to reduce unconscious bias.
“At the city, I’m happy to report there’s not a wage gap between men and women doing the same jobs,” Jacobs Quinn said, describing the pledge as an enhancement to longstanding public‑sector pay‑transparency practices. She credited the commission on the status of women and Vice Mayor Rivas for supporting the measure.
Jennifer Thibeau, speaking for the commission, invited residents to the commission’s HERStory 2026 event on Saturday, March 14 at Robinson Park Recreation Center. The free program (doors at 10:30 a.m.; event 11 a.m.–1 p.m.) will include a panel, a screening of clips from the film honoring Lily Ledbetter and a discussion on the path forward for pay equity.
Library and recreation staff also outlined additional Women’s History Month programs for children and families and the Pasadena Fire Department highlighted a two‑day women’s fire academy in April co‑hosted with neighboring departments.
The announcements were made during the ceremonial portion of the council meeting; no formal action was required for the pledge announcement.
