The Woodford County Fiscal Court voted to adopt Resolution 2026‑7 recognizing and authorizing an interlocal governmental agreement with the City of Versailles and the Woodford County Economic Development Authority to pursue purchase and redevelopment of the former Yokohama building at 105 Industry Drive.
The presiding judge told the court the interlocal agreement clarifies the county’s ability to participate in debt obligations and bonding for the project, and cited a $2,000,000 KPDI grant awarded to the effort. "Since we've received notice that we were awarded the $2,000,000 grant for KPDI funds, there have been companies express interest in the Yokohama Building," the judge said, describing the award as a catalyst for private interest and job creation.
Representatives with First Securities and the EDA participated in prior discussions about bonding and development. The judge said the county’s low historical debt position and healthy cash balance support moving forward with the interlocal arrangement and the court voted to adopt the resolution after a motion, second and a voice vote.
The resolution recognizes an existing partnership and records the county’s participation; the county will continue development work in coordination with the city and the EDA and proceed with bonding and acquisition steps as discussed.
