Los Altos Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission sets priorities for 12‑month work plan

The Los Altos Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission met Monday, Nov. 17, and spent most of its session drafting a one‑year work plan that emphasizes community outreach, public‑art activity, cultural programming and targeted park improvements.

A Parks & Recreation staff member opened the discussion with a procedural overview, saying, “what you have in front of you is annually, each commission will review their essential goals for the year,” and described how goals, objectives and discrete projects should be separated so multiyear efforts can be reduced to 12‑month tasks.

Commissioners agreed to keep community outreach as a core goal and discussed specific, measurable activities to make the goal actionable. Suggestions included tabling at the farmers market, hosting walking/bike tours of public art, increasing presence at family‑oriented events and maintaining an up‑to‑date public‑art brochure.
