The City Council approved a five-year contract with Pegasus Studios to continue production and broadcast services for council and several commission meetings, authorizing a not-to-exceed total of $900,000. IT Director Miguel explained Pegasus manages cameras, audio, in‑chamber displays and streaming to cable channels (Spectrum/Frontier) and the city website. Staff confirmed that archived videos and closed captions could be posted and that PEG funds cannot be used for ongoing services but may fund capital upgrades.
Councilmembers asked whether the contract scope extended to planning and other advisory commission meetings under recent Brown Act/Bill 707 changes; the city attorney and city clerk said some commissions are being included and staff will provide a checklist to align with new legal requirements. The motion to adopt the resolution passed 5-0.
Staff said the city previously outsourced production in 2017 to reduce staff fatigue and that the contract includes fees only for actual hours used; ad-hoc special-event setups can increase costs on a per-event basis.
