Ceres council appoints Bob Goble to planning commission

The Ceres City Council voted unanimously Jan. 26 to appoint Bob Goble to the city planning commission.
Goble, present for an in-person interview, told the council he has "20 plus years in the construction industry" and has lived in Ceres for three decades. He described prior community service, leadership in the local Lions club and said he would make decisions that "empower the city and its citizens."
Council members complimented Goble's experience and said his answers on impartial decision-making and community stewardship were persuasive. Vice Mayor Martinez moved to appoint him and Councilwoman Viera seconded; the clerk recorded a roll call vote in which all five members voted yes.
Per council procedure, Goble will join the planning commission to participate in review of development applications, design issues and zoning-related matters. The council did not state a separate term length at the meeting.
