The Red Oak Town Council approved the Planning Board's recommended zoning map changes on Aug. 11, 2025, after a brief public hearing. Commissioner Craig New moved to accept the recommendation and Commissioner Scott Briley seconded; the motion carried 4-0.
Mayor Levell Langley opened the hearing and Zoning Administrator Jackie Johnson summarized the board's recommendation and the proposed map. Property owner James Albert Ervin Jr. asked whether his property in the annexation area would have to be zoned R-40 or could instead be designated agriculture conservation. Zoning Administrator Jackie Johnson responded that property owners may apply for rezoning at any time.
The council's motion approved a list of parcels to be zoned RM-40, designated parcel 358542 to B1-CZ and parcel 031632 to B1, as presented by the Planning Board. The minutes record the parcels by parcel number as part of the formal recommendation.
The action was procedural and implements the Planning Board's recommendation; Johnson and council members did not record further conditions or phased requirements in the minutes. The council exited the public hearing at 6:40 p.m. and took the final vote that approved the map.
The council did not record appeals, conditions, or a timetable for rezoning petitions beyond the standard option that owners may request rezoning later. Residents who want a different zoning designation were advised that they may apply for rezoning through the town process.
