Clay County Board Recognizes Students, Approves FBLA Trip and Highlights CTE Certifications

The board recognized Nizhoni Kaslikowski and Dalton Davidson for acceptance into Governor's School programs (Humanities at UT Martin and computational physics at Austin Peay). A school administrator invited board members to the May 12 senior signing day to honor seniors signing with colleges or employers.
Chair presented and the board approved a trip request for Clay County High School FBLA to attend the state convention in Chattanooga from April 7 through April 9.
During the director's report and subsequent remarks, a meeting participant who identified participation in CTE classes described passing a Microsoft Office Word certification and said PowerPoint certification is in progress. "These stay with you for a lot. You can log in and show them to future employers and put on your resume," the participant said. The central-office administrator noted that each certification achieved in these classes adds funding to CTE programs, encouraging continued certification efforts.
The items were approved as part of the routine board business at the March 12 meeting.
